PERFORATED NONWOVEN MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2184182 C1

FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: material with specific weight of 8-17 g/sq. m is composed of interwoven continuous microfibrous threads with linear density of 0.05-0.40 dtex. Threads are made from at least two thermoplastic polymers of different water-repelling property. Filament section is made in the form of cavities or hollow cells. During splitting, single filaments are separated from mentioned threads. Perforation openings are free from split single filaments. Method involves locating continuous threads composed of at least two different thermoplastic polymers of different water-repelling property and arranged in filament section in the form of alternating cells in nonwoven material; splitting mentioned threads into single filaments and interweaving filaments by water jets under high pressure to form interwoven microfibrous threads; perforating nonwoven material by water jets under high pressure. Resultant material has improved characteristics as compared to those of nonwoven materials previously used for manufacture of articles adapted for absorbing intestinal excreta, namely, improved opacity, soft and comfortable side adjoining to user's body. Also, material may substitute double- and multilayer materials, and has weight of fibrous material substantially lower than that of perforated nonwoven materials used now for manufacture of diapers and woman's pads. Such structure allows intestinal excreta to be distributed without deteriorating urinary absorption, enables liquid passage through perforated material without adding surfactants and, accordingly, reduces relative content of surfactants in commonly used mass of non-perforated protective nonwoven material. EFFECT: simplified structure, wider range of use and improved quality of perforated nonwoven material. 10 cl, 6 dwg, 5 tbl, 4 ex
