FIELD: mechanical engineering; diesel engine exhaust gas cleaning. SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at improving cleaning of exhaust gases of diesel engine from soot particles by afterburning the particles by means of electrically heated soot filter, reducing heat losses in converter reaction chamber owing to use of twin wall housing and cylindrical heating shield and decreasing hydrodynamic resistance to passing of exhaust gases through converter owing to provision of conical diffuser and confuser. Proposed converter has cylindrical housing with external and internal walls and layer of heat insulator placed between the walls, diffuser with fitted-in and guide vane assembly installed after diffuser, electric insulation ring, NiCr spiral placed in cut grooves and connected with electronic control unit by means of electric wires, cylindrical shield made of easy-to-heat material with rough surface for trapping soot particles from exhaust gases, inlet and outlet metal grids limiting catalyst grain filling volume and compensating element. Diffuser is connected with housing part by bolts. Part of housing at end of converter is made in form of truncated cone tapering in direction of exhaust gas flow (confuser).
