FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines; devices to reduce toxicity of exhaust gases. SUBSTANCE: diesel engine exhaust gas thermal converter has cylindrical housing with double (inner and outer) walls and heat insulation placed in between, tangentially installed inlet branch pipe, outlet branch pipe, heat resistant steel cyclone, electric spiral laid in dielectric installed on support, and shield to protect spiral from soot particles. Detachable lower part of housing is sealed on housing by gasket made of fire- resistant material. Spiral is coupled with control unit and exhaust gas temperature pickup. EFFECT: reduced thermal losses in converter owing to use of cyclone with expansion clearances, increased efficiency of operation of electric spiral owing to use of spiral control unit and exhaust gas temperature pickup, possibility of clearing converter from soot owing to detachable part of housing. 2 dwg
