FIELD: lining thermal units in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy; oxygen steel-making converters, treatment of steel in units outside of furnace, electric melting furnaces and other thermal units. SUBSTANCE: high-dense carbon-containing refractory material is manufactured on base of periclass and/or alumina, and/or spinal; proposed method includes preparation of mass by stage feed mode and mixing the following components in mixer: granular powder-like filler and 2/3 to 3/4 part of liquid organic binder; 2/3 to 3/4 part of powder-like phenol binder; 2/3 to 3/4 part of powder-like phenol binder; dispersed powder-like filler, 2/4 to 3/4 part of graphite, 2/3 to 3/4 antioxydant; remaining 1/4 to 1/3 part of liquid organic binder; remaining 1/4 to 1/3 part of powder0like phenol binder; remaining 1/4 to 1/3 part of graphic and 1/4 to 1/3 part of antioxydant till granulated mixture has been obtained. Antioxidants are used at mass increase factor at calcinations no less than 20%. EFFECT: enhanced wear- resistance of carbon-containing refractory materials due to increase of their apparent density; reduced reject in forming and heat treatment of articles; enhanced productivity of press equipment and increased service life of press auxiliaries. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 3 tbl
