FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: to conduct the method one should prestain a slide. After applying a smear upon a slide as a monolayer out of a dosed blood volume, the present slide is kept in a moisture chamber up to saturation of a dyestuff with water vapor. A smear is divided into vision zones due to selecting areas with homogeneous characteristics of elements. When dividing a smear into vision zones one should take into consideration unsteady distribution of different-type cells upon a smear due to selecting a certain disposition trajectory of vision zones obtained. They are introduced into computer's memory. Pictures are simultaneously segmented. While analyzing the leucocytes an additional segmentation is conducted by a statistical procedure due to isolating intracellular structures of an object at the site of leucocytebearing picture. Information is obtained on the quantitative characteristics of blood cells and their qualitative description. EFFECT: higher efficiency to conduct an assay of blood cellular composition under extreme conditions. 1 cl
