ACID ACCUMULATOR Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2185692 C2

FIELD: electrical engineering; chemical power supplies. SUBSTANCE: acid accumulator has electrolyte can accommodating positive and negative plates coated with active material. Novelty is that can is built integral with box which is closed with lid and accommodates switching device, DC converter unit, and charging device. Switching device is, essentially, set of switches whose movable members are coupled with float responding to electrolyte specific gravity. DC converter unit has electronic DC-to-AC converter, step-up transformer, and rectifying device with filter; DC converter input is connected through switching device and limiting resistor to set of positive and negative plates. Charging device has two glass cylinders filled with hydrogen under pressure; each cylinder accommodates anode, cathode, and additional plate; cylinder anodes and cathodes are connected to DC converter output; one of additional plates is connected through switching device to set of positive plates and other additional plate, to set of negative plates also through switching device; in addition each cylinder is disposed between poles of two permanent magnets. EFFECT: enhanced operating stability of accumulator. 8 dwg
