SUBSTANCE: method includes wood carbonization due to lowering of temperature drop in kiln space by moving kiln roof or roof and part of walls in vertical direction, and during cooling of charcoal together with kiln, kiln roof is lifted as charcoal is cooled. Charcoal kiln has a roof movable in vertical direction and a part of kiln walls. For this purpose, kiln is composite in height, the roof is suspended from load-lifting device, and roof and movable parts of walls have guides engageable with vertical posts. A container for charcoal kiln has a body composite in height, each component may freely move relative to one another in vertical direction.
