FIELD: construction and reconstruction of water-cooling towers. SUBSTANCE: chimney-type mechanical-draft tower includes central pillar with fan, supporting part, housing in the form shell forming contraction, chimney and diffuser, water distribution system, sprinkler and water-collection pond. Housing is manufactured from sheet material of corrugated shape which corrugations are located over circumference and have form of sprocket in horizontal section in area of chimney. Each corrugation is formed of two plates arranged at angle with respect to another and interjoined by long edges with formation of joint rib positioned along generatrix of truncated cone of outline of housing. The rest of edges of plate face inwards of tower and form directly internal contour of tower to which protective screen is attached. EFFECT: prolonged service life, enhanced seismic stability and increased strength characteristic of proposed chimney-type mechanical-draft tower. 2 cl, 4 dwg
