SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heat engineering and can be used for air-cooling of circulating water of CHP plants, NPPs and industrial enterprises. Cooling tower using surface cooling comprises a tower that is rectangular in its cross section and air windows in its lower part, mounted on water catching basin, in which the following elements are placed sequentially from top to bottom: water catcher, water distributing collector with water spraying nozzles, fill consisting several identical blocks. Upper edge of the tower has a pyramidal neck, fill blocks are cylindrical rings, made from hydrophilic material or coated with it, and arranged in checkerboard order, close to each other, on the support grid or arranged in a pile, there is a surface cooling unit above the water surface of the basing, its design is identical to the design of the fill blocks, its upper edge is located at the same level as the lower edges of air windows, wherein the diameters Dsc of the cylindrical rings of the surface cooling unit are less than the diameters Dfb of the cylindrical rings of the fill blocks, but larger than the minimum diameter Dscmin of the surface cooling unit rings when flooded.
EFFECT: technical result is the increase of reliability and efficiency of cooling tower with surface cooling.
