METHOD OF DETERMINING OIL RESERVES IN OIL POOL Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: oil producing industry; applicable in determination of oil reserves in deposits of banded structure, deposits of placer type. SUBSTANCE: method includes determining location of pool axis on pool section with banded structure; hydrodynamic investigation of well not lying on pool axis with duration of investigation ensuring obtaining of two pressure signals reflected from near and distant pool boundaries on pressure restoration curve; determining time of arrival of signals reflected from near and distant edges of pool and width of pool band. Oil reserves are determined by volume of pool, its reservoir properties and properties of formation fluid. Axis and width of pool are determined by mathematical expressions. EFFECT: higher accuracy in determination of oil reserves due to determination of width and edges of band-like pool with minimal volume of hydrodynamic investigations. 4 dwg, 1 tbl, 1 ex
