METHOD AND LASER FOR PUMPING ACTIVE ELEMENT OF LASER Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2186445 C2

FIELD: laser engineering; solid-state laser pumping systems. SUBSTANCE: method for pumping active element of solid- state laser includes firing pulsed pump lamps with short high-voltage pulse and generating ionizing arc. Lamps are changed over to keep- alive arc mode followed by forcing simultaneous supply of lamp radiation energy to active elements. After that forced laser radiation is generated in active element that functions as pump. Laser radiation is fed from active element functioning as pump to active element kept in wait mode in excited state and functioning as amplifier. Device for pumping laser active element has reflector with active element and pump lamp. Active element is mounted between nontransmitting and decoupling mirrors. Device is provided in addition with system of hinged mirrors on decoupling mirror side and reflector, with active element and pump lamp. Active elements are arranged between pump lamps. System of hinged mirrors is mounted for transmitting laser radiation to additional active element. Elliptical- section reflector has active element and pump lamp. It is also provided with additional active element and pump lamp. Pump lamps are placed in ellipse focuses and active elements, on smaller axis of ellipse at an angle of 50-70 deg. to larger axis. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of pumping active elements. 3 cl, 2 dwg
