FIELD: inorganic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves dehydration of magnesium chloride solutions in a single- -chamber device of boiling layer by solution spraying in layer through pneumatic nozzles at rate of gases in layer 1.5-3.5 m/s being the degree of spraying regulates the granulometric composition of dehydrated product. Dehydrated magnesium chloride is subjected for thermohydrolysis in rotating drum feeding fuel gases by countercurrent to material moving and temperature of gases in outlet from drum must correspond to temperature of material in device of boiling layer. Method ensures to decrease the volume of steam-gaseous phase containing hydrogen chloride and magnesium oxide in thermohydrolysis of magnesium chloride. Invention is used in production of magnesium oxide from magnesium chloride solution. EFFECT: improved method of production, simplified process. 2 ex
