FIELD: mining; applicable in underground mining of mineral beds. SUBSTANCE: method includes division of bed into inclined layers; driving of district development workings outlining mineral pillars; successive extraction of mineral pillars in overlying and above-worked layers by faces with leading mining of pillars of overlying layer. Mineral pillars of above-worked layer are extracted under worked-out space of faces of overlying layer after completion of process of rock caving of main roof in worked-out space of faces of overlying layer. Lines of breakage faces of above-worked layer are located at angle to fissures formed in rocks of bed roof in mining of pillars of overlying layer. In mining of beds whose main roof is presented by difficult-to-cave rocks, distance between faces of above- worked and overlying layers, worked in same direction, is taken larger than four steps of main roof caving in worked-out space of faces of overlying layer. During working of faces of above-worked layer under fissures formed in rocks of main roof, value of angle between lines of breakage faces of faces of above-worked layer and fissures is taken equal to 5-15 deg. EFFECT: higher efficiency of mining of thick mineral beds with use of pillar mining system due to excluded dynamic loading onto support of faces of above-worked layers resulting in inrush of rocks and deformation of support units. 3 cl, 3 dwg
