FIELD: chemical industry for drying of various chemicals; in metallurgical industry for drying of steel strip; in industry of building materials for drying, in particular, of pottery; in food industry for drying of various products. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in engagement of the drying agent with the material to be dried, separation of moisture from the spent drying agent, its heating to the drying temperature and subsequent recirculation. The method is featured by the fact that separation of moisture from the spent drying agent is accomplished by its direct engagement with a liquid absorber and additional drying of the spent drying agent by drawing it through a regenerative heat exchanger made in the form of a thermocompressor. Besides, direct engagement of the spent drying agent with the liquid absorber is accomplished in two or several successive stages; before separation of moisture by direct engagement of the spent drying agent with the liquid absorber the spent drying agent is filtered.
