FIELD: insulation materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of waterproofing dispersed materials applicable in chemical industry and petroleum and gas processing and can be used for preparing components waterproofing components for coating articles of ceramics, wood, textile, paper, metals, and building materials in order to increase their resistance to external effects. Material is based on silica, which is subjected to surface modification by hetero- organic compounds of formula Cl4-nSiRn, in which n=1-3, R represents methyl, ethyl, chloromethyl, or phenyl, under effect of pulse electric discharge in a gas medium at ambient temperature. Weight ratio of dispersed material to modifier varies from 1:5 to 1:1. Activation and surface modification is carried out in working chamber of electrohydraulic impact plant. Product shows hydrophobicity 98-99%. EFFECT: simplified and intensified process. 3 cl, 3 tbl, 3 ex
