FIELD: transport engineering: testing facilities. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, section of sidemember to be tested is secured on base in two points by means of grips, and load is applied to end of cross member section through active grip. Load is transmitted from force exciter at angle to axis of crossmember section in vertical plane parallel to axis through bearing unit and lever secured on active grip on which bearing unit is installed. Device for exciting longitudinal load in sidemember is connected also with bearing unit of active grip. Said device consists of tandem-mounted tie-rod from active grip bearing unit, system of levers (or hydraulic drive), and tie-rod and clamp on one of end faces of section of sidemember provided with bearing unit for interaction with tie-rod. Hole in sidemember for fastening on base from side of end face is made with ovality along sidemember axis. Device provides loading of crossmember by torsional and bending forces in vertical plane, and sidemember by bending forces in vertical and horizontal planes limited by torsion and extension/compression. EFFECT: enlarged spectrum of loads on unit under testing, provision of conditions of testing similar to those of operating ones, improved accuracy of results of testing without introduction of additional force excitation sources. 3 dwg
