FIELD: measurements of temperature; microwave units; artillery for measuring average temperature of propelling charges. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in reception of r. f. self-radiation by sensing antenna and measuring antenna temperature by measuring energy of received signal sensing antenna in located at distance not exceeding its aperture perpendicularly relative to axis of rotation of object; antenna temperature is measured by means of radiometric receiver at medium frequency of received r. f. signal of object equal to f0 = (0,05...0,5)/ε•D•tgδ, where f0 is medium frequency, GHz; ε, tgδ - is relative dielectric permittivity and loss tangent of dielectric and D is linear size of object, m in way perpendicular to aperture of antenna; average volume temperature of object equal to measured magnitude of antenna temperature increased by 1/(1-K) times is determined, where K is efficiency of sensing antenna. Antenna temperature is measured at rotation of object effected by rotation mechanism around axis perpendicular to axis of antenna; period of rotation is selected to be equal to Tm/M, where Tm is time of measurement and M is integer.
