SUBSTANCE: method of measurement of power characteristics of high-power radiation includes absorption of optical radiation and recording thermal response of absorbing element; absorption of radiation is effected on material at X-region of spectrum for radiation power isotherms; recording of thermal response of absorbing element is effected at wave length in X-region of spectrum at time delay found from the following dependence: τdel = τem.im, τdel≥h2/a where τem.im is emission impulse duration and "a" is coefficient of thermal diffusivity of material of absorbing element and "h" is thickness of absorbing element.
