FIELD: fire-fighting equipment. SUBSTANCE: aerosol generator has cylindrical or prismatic casing equipped with discharge openings, aerosol forming charge and igniter. Discharge openings are arranged in one or several rows. Ratio of minimal discharge opening spacing H and discharge opening diameter D is H/D=0.5-4. Ratio of minimal spacing Hr between discharge opening rows and D is Hr/D=4-6. Ratio of D and excessive oxidant coefficient α for fire-suppressing aerosol generator is D/α=(3-20) mm, with α being equal to or exceeding 0.5. Enclosing members with injection openings are positioned on casing close to discharge openings in parallel with aerosol flow discharged through openings. Discharge openings may be arranged in one or both ends of casing. Lower enclosing members may be made continuous and equipped with flange. Generator casing may be free of enclosing members. Discharge openings must be spaced from aerosol generator lower end by distance at least equal to 1/3 the height of casing. Aerosol generator may be used in fire-fighting equipment employed for suppressing fire in rooms and vehicles.
