FIELD: metallurgy; thermochemical pickling of steel products by low-melting, for example, alkali melts and application of fusible metals (zinc, aluminum, etc. ) on surfaces. SUBSTANCE: internal members of submersible heaters are located above level of melt. Tank furnace has T- shaped cross-section with open upright and closed legs on which heaters and smoke receivers are mounted and air and gas pipes are laid; air supply branches of submersible heaters are provided with pressure rise sensors, thus providing for effective check of tightness of heater housings. EFFECT: reduced consumption of fuel; enhanced durability of members of submersible heater; ease in maintenance; check of their housing for tightness. 3 cl, 3 dwg
