PROCEDURE LOCATING FAULT IN ELECTRIC CABLE AND DEVICE FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2190234 C1

FIELD: electric measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: in correspondence with proposed procedure for location of fault in electric cable intensity of magnetic field close to disconnected damaged cable is measured in advance on various frequencies, several frequencies with least level of noise are selected, signals of current of selected frequencies are then fed into electric cable in turn, intensity of magnetic field is measured on these frequencies, frequency with highest level of signal is selected and is used to locate point of fault by any known method. Device for implementation of procedure includes induction detector with magnetic antenna tuned to any frequency of sonic range and current generator capable of generating signals of current of all selected frequencies or of any frequency from selected range in turn. Proposed technical approach makes it possible to enhance noise immunity of input signal of device practically under any changes of noise situation in area of search for fault in cable, including variations of network frequency which allows capacity of current generator to be markedly reduced and consequently dimensions of device to be diminished. Given technical approach makes it feasible to use proposed device in mix with any aids of other manufacturers. EFFECT: increased functional efficiency of device and procedure. 5 cl, 3 dwg
