FIELD: agricultural production. SUBSTANCE: method involves feeding organic material; cutting it by means of comb and cutterbar knife; withdrawing cut material. Organic material is fed in unequal parts so that area of cut material in comb teeth gaps formed during first half of knife pass is less than in comb teeth gaps formed during second half of knife pass. During cutting, part of fed material is transferred from first to second half of knife pass. Inertia force facilitates cutting through of wool and overcoming of friction force. Teeth of cutterbar comb are arranged in offset relation so that pitch of teeth in first half of knife is less than pitch of teeth in second half of knife, to facilitate redistribution of supplied material over the width of cutterbar.
