FIELD: industry of building materials, in particular, production of light hollow aggregate used in construction and other branches of industry. SUBSTANCE: method consists in production of a core of an aqueous disperse system, formation of a shell of a hardening binding system on it and its strengthening. For production of the core use is made of an aqueous disperse system-emulsion or suspension, or foam with a thickener selected from the following group: methyl cellulose, carboxy-methyl cellulose, starch, surface-active substance, bentonite, amorphous silica, dustlike particles after processing of rocks, their quantity being quite enough for provision of the system viscosity of 40-400 MPa/s. For formation of the shell use is made of a quick-hardening binding system providing for production of a shell with a strength sufficient for preservation of the shape of the produced granule not later than in 5-10 min, the components of the binding system are selected as follows: the first powdery material of the group: magnesium oxide, ferric oxide, calcium oxide, mixture of calcium oxide and aluminium oxide, zinc oxide, calcium hydroxide, dicalcium silicate-belite, cement, aluminous cement ash and lime, ash and cement, the second powdery or liquid material of the group respectively: ammonium phosphate, phosphoric acid, aluminium sulfate, sulfuric and phosphoric acids, silica sol, potassium silicate, oxalic acid, silica gel, mixture of calcium, aluminium and ferric hydrosilicates, mixture of ferric and aluminium sulfates. Formation and strengthening of the shell are accomplished simultaneously by contact of the discretely separated disperse system with production of the core and the components of the quick-hardening binding system interacting in the presence of water contained in the core. EFFECT: reduced power consumption, considerably simplified procedure due to the reduced cycle of production of granules, and reduced density of them. 5 cl, 1 tbl
