FIELD: mechanical engineering, automotive industry. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in cooling systems of internal combustion engines for stabilizing operating temperature. According to invention, in cooling system of known design containing housing with inlet (main and bypass) branch pipes and outlet branch pipe and thermostatic element with spring-loaded main and bypass valves, at least one throttling hole in made in shutoff member of bypass valve which is kept pressed to seat. Part of seat is played by outlet out of bypass branch pipe. Shutoff member of bypass valve can be furnished additionally with guide skirt. EFFECT: provision of required coolant flow rate through heater radiator without increasing cost of cooling system and without impairing its characteristics. 2 cl, 4 dwg
