FIELD: immunobiology, virology, molecular biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method of diagnosis of herpes virus infection is performed by two-stage polymerase chain reaction (PCR) carrying out using two external primers I and II on the first stage and two internal primers I and III on the second stage. Two stages of PCR involve three stages: the first stage involves denaturation and annealing for one cycle; the second stage involves elongation, denaturation and annealing for 30 cycles and the third stage involves elongation for one cycle. Products of amplification are differentiated by restriction analysis, for example, by electrophoresis on horizontal agarose gel.
