FIELD: methods applicable in manufacture of electrodes by coating of substrate from rectifying metal with electrocatalytic paint and used in various fields. SUBSTANCE: method of applying electrocatalytic or protective coating to metal substrate or repair of its damaged zone includes heat treatment of precursor of said catalytic coating by hot air jet from blast blower. Substrate temperature is locally controlled by surface temperature pickup or with the help of infrared measurement system. Metal substrate may be structure of depleted electrode. In this case, repeated activation is easily effected at operating position without sending the structure to the Manufacturer. Claimed method is suitable, particularly, for repeated activation of anodes for liberation of oxygen as it allows avoiding hazardous procedure of disconnection of anode from current conductor.
