FIELD: code-division multiple-access communication systems. SUBSTANCE: receiver of asynchronous CDMA communication system incorporating pseudorandom sequence identifier receives first Gold orthogonal codes in primary synchronizing channel and second Gold orthogonal codes in secondary synchronizing channel synchronized with primary one on post-character basis. Pseudorandom noise sequence identifier has first Gold orthogonal code detector which detects first Gold orthogonal codes and takes energy of first character. First synchronizer receives energy of first character, synchronizes code element, characters, and time intervals, and generates first sync signal. Upon reception of first sync signal detector of second Gold orthogonal codes detects second Gold orthogonal codes each time when first sync signal arrives and takes energy of second characters of groups identifying base stations. Frequency hopping pattern generator compares energies of first and second characters, determines order of zero signs, if any, and generates frequency tuning pattern from second Gold orthogonal codes. EFFECT: reduced base-station search time taken by mobile station; reduced noise due to secondary sync signal of direct communication line; simplified design of mobile station. 9 cl, 16 dwg
