FIELD: manufacture of graphitized electrodes with protective coat for electric arc and reduction furnaces. SUBSTANCE: graphitized electrode with protective coat has graphitized base on which protective double layer is plasma-plated. First layer of coat is made of aluminum or its alloy and second layer is produced from current-conducting material. Second layer is made of copper and thickness of coat amounts to 0.2-1.5 mm. Coat is deposited by plasma spraying of wire. First layer of protective coat made of aluminum alloy contains 5-10% of silicon. EFFECT: reduced stress in elements of electrode structure, enhanced strength of adhesion of coat to base, increased quality of graphitized electrodes with significant decrease of expenses for their manufacture. 2 cl, 1 tbl
