FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method is realized by catalytic conversion of synthesis-gas comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide to methanol, dimethyl ether and water. Product is subjected for cooling followed by separation for liquid and gaseous phases. Gaseous phase comprising carbon monoxide and residual amount of dimethyl ether is removed from process. Liquid phase comprising methanol, dimethyl ether and water is subjected for interaction with carbon monoxide to yield acetic acid and the latter is removed from process.
