FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of acetic acid. Method is carried out by catalytic conversion of synthesis-gas comprising of hydrogen and carbon monoxide to methanol, dimethyl ether and water. Product is subjected for cooling followed by separation for gaseous current containing carbon dioxide and residual amounts of dimethyl ether and liquid current containing methanol, dimethyl ether and water. Liquid current is subjected for interaction with carbon monoxide to yield current of exhaust gas and acetic acid which is removed from process. Current of exhaust gas containing carbon monoxide is recirculated to the stage of carbonylation of methanol and dimethyl ether.
