FIELD: cooling systems for motor vehicle engines. SUBSTANCE: heat storage device designed to accumulate store, and transfer heat during engine starting has heat-insulated housing accommodating tubes for coolant admitting and discharging coaxially arranged along its center line. Set of concentric shells is installed in coolant circulating space coaxially relative to center line with partitions in-between to form longitudinal ducts together with shell walls providing communication between admission and discharge spaces. Flow splitter mounted on admission tube in vicinity of dispensing holes is made in the form of radial taper guides secured on coolant admission tube in vicinity of dispensing holes. Loose ends of guides abut against set of shells with partitions forming taper ducts passing coolant from dispensing holes to longitudinal ducts in set of shells. Each taper duct accommodates plates that sectionalize these ducts. Numbers and area of dispensing holes on admission tube are found from given relation. Such design enables eliminating stagnant zones in coolant circulating space, minimizing hot and cold coolant mixture, and mounting heat storage device in any desired position in space.
