FIELD: machine engineering, repair works, namely optimal angular orientation of crankpins of crank shafts at grinding. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes base, strut, leverage mechanism for lifting and descending reading unit with prisma-gage. Reading unit includes guide rigidly joined with strut; carriage with ball bearings in retainers supporting prisma-gage with possibility of motion relative to guide normally relative to axis of spindle of machine tool; limiters. Meter of linear motion of carriage is mounted in one limiter; gage for positioning carriage in such a way that to provide coincidence of symmetry axis of prisma-gage with strut axis is mounted in other limiter. Collet chuck is rigidly joined with guide in order to fix carriage with prisma-gage relative to strut. EFFECT: improved design providing enhanced efficiency and accuracy of grinding, increased useful life period of crank shafts due to large number of possible repair works as result of high accuracy of basing at grinding while taking into account twisted state of crank shaft. 6 dwg
