COMPOSITE TAPE FORMING METHOD AND APPARATUS Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: smoking articles. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has two-bobbin unwinder, from which fiber glass tapes are unwound in succession. Gluing press is used for gluing tapes unwound from two bobbins of unwinder. Apparatus is further equipped with measuring and regulating devices for measuring unwinding speed and amount of tape remained on tape bobbin. Said devices provide for accumulation in accumulator of tapes before gluing operation in an amount sufficient for continuous operation of process line, with tapes being immovable during gluing operation. Tape is supplied into apparatus and cut lengthwise into two equal parts, which are brought apart in vertical direction. Paper tape is fed into gap between two separated fiber glass tapes, with following bringing of all tapes together in single point to form three-layer composite tape with inner layer of paper tape arranged between fiber glass layers. Composite tape is fed to automatic machine for manufacture of KDF filters and is used in said machine together with carbonaceous rod for manufacture of fuel member.
