FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: gauze is produced from high number cotton yarn with linear density of fibers of 15.4-18.5 tex, surface density of 22-34.5 g/sq. m, number of warp fibers per 10 cm 98-120 and number of weft fibers 58-73, warp rupture load 6.5-7.5 kgf, weft rupture load 3-4 kgf, capillarity of at least 7 cm/hour, wetting capacity of 5 s, and neutral acidity of aqueous infusion. Gauze may be used for manufacture of medicinal dressing facilities such as cuts, bandages, single- or multilayer filter cloths, surgical tampons, turundae, medicinal pads or cotton balls. Gauze makes base for salve dressing, compresses, for immobilizing medicinal drugs and preparations, individual dressing packs etc. Gauze of such structure has reduced weight and volume, improved vapor and air permeability and may be sterilized by any method in accordance with respective rules.
