FIELD: chemical petrochemical and chemical-metallurgy industries. SUBSTANCE: porous carcass is formed from carbon fibers and finely dispersed carbon filling agent of fraction 60 mcm, not above, on graphite mandrel by winding method. The content of carbon fibers decreases by thickness from central part to surface from 100 to 0% and content of carbon powder increases from 0 to 100%, respectively. Fibrous part of porous carcass can form with pores size increasing from center to surface or by uniform density. Pores filling with finely dispersed carbon filling agent can be carried out by vacuum or hydrostatic method by addition of nonshrinking nonfoaming binding agent additionally. Fabric can be used instead fibers. It is possible to form additional layer of finely dispersed carbon filling agent with thickness by 1 mm exceeding allowance value for mechanical treatment on a single or some surfaces of porous carcass fibrous part. Before filling pores of porous carcass fibrous part it is possible to confer rigidity sufficient to retain an article form by saturation with pyrocarbon and/or by impregnation with polymeric binding agent being a value of opened porosity retains to be 30%, not less. After porous carcass formation it is thickened with pyrocarbon by isothermal method under decreased partial pressure of carbon-containing gas or by thermogradient method. Invention provides to make high-strength articles with decreased gas permeability. Invention can be used for making articles working under excessive pressure and in corrosive media. EFFECT: improved method of making, improved properties of articles. 9 cl
