FIELD: organic synthesis catalysts. SUBSTANCE: olefins are prepared by vapor-phase dehydration of alcohols at elevated temperature and in presence of catalyst. The latter is alumina additionally treated with aqueous solution of alkali metal acetate with metal content 0.1 to 1 M and subjected to heat treatment at 380-420 C.
