SUBSTANCE: styrene is prepared by liquid-phase dehydration of methyl phenyl carbinol-containing raw material using, as catalyst, phosphoric acid and/or organic sulfonic acid modified by oxygen- and/or nitrogen-containing compounds. It is likewise possible to carry out dehydration in presence of hydrogen. EFFECT: increased yield of styrene and reduced formation of heavy products. 13 ex
