FIELD: geophysics, evaluation of structural slackening of rocks. SUBSTANCE: analysis of chemical and mineral composition of rocks is conducted, energy volume density is computed on its basis with due account of possible chemical bonds. Energy volume density determined by photon emission with boundary frequency with destruction of edge part of mass is less in value since real bonds between atoms in rock are few. Proposed coefficient presents ratio of above-mentioned potential energies. Under full-scale conditions for one and same rock mass or amount of atoms number of their bonds and interaction force are unequal. Under pit conditions this coefficient includes in addition changes of values coupled to depth and effect of mining operations. Coefficient of structural slackening of rocks enables mechanical strength and criteria of burst-risk of rock mass to be defined more precisely which enlarges body of information on mechanical properties of rocks and components of mass.
