SUBSTANCE: topographic values for an optic nerve caput are determined: horizontal and vertical diameter, the circle's area, the volume of excavation, the circle's volume, and at horizontal diameter being above 1.7 mm, vertical diameter being above 1.8 mm, the circle's area - below 2.5 mm2, the volume of excavation, above 0.04 mm2, the circle's volume, above 0.78 mm2 the treatment is considered to be prescribed. The method enables to start therapy at a reversible stage of the disease and prevent the development of atrophy in an optic nerve. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 ex
