FIELD: rescue equipment. SUBSTANCE: apparatus is formed as hollow casing of soft steel (parallelepiped) with split wall perpendicular to elongated rib, into which safety cable is inserted by user, who blocks escape of cable from casing by rotating brake screw in clockwise direction. By further rotating brake screw in the same direction apparatus is put on hand brake. User fastens armpit belt and hand belts, gets upon platform with his feet and begins to descend by smoothly rotating brake screw in counterclockwise direction. In case speed is increased or earth is too close to user, apparatus should be retarded by rotating brake screw in clockwise direction, with slide being movable along casing and twist cable in three sites. Two restricting safety plates prevent cable from sliding from slide tongue. Cable is blocked from escape from casing, which may occur due to user's incorrect actions, through retarding backward movement of slide by restrictor. Apparatus is further provided with double braking facilities for guaranteed safe descending and may be used by people in desperate condition, for example, in high-rise burning buildings.
