FIELD: sealing facilities. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical seals designed for use in hydraulic and pneumatic machines and device whose working members execute rotating and/or reciprocating movements. Said mechanical seal of shaft or rod, or machine cylinder has flexible holder with eccentrically arranged beads or corresponding bores made on outer or inner surfaces of holder. Sealing rings are installed on beads or bores being pressed to each other at end faces held against surfaces to be sealed by flexible holder. Each sealing ring has section in form of sector whose working surface is made cylindrical with radius equal to radius of surface to be sealed. The rest of ring has radius either greater than or smaller than said radius, i.e. it has shape providing slot clearance between ring and surface to be sealed. Adjacent rings are turned relative to each other so that angle between their radial planes passing through middles of sectors is 360/n, where n is number of rings. EFFECT: simplified design owing to reduction of number of sealing rings at preservation of high degree of sealing. 3 cl, 4 dwg
