PROCEDURE AND DEVICE MEASURING DISTANCE (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2195689 C2

FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in radio measurement equipment (distance measurement, level measurement), in acoustics and optics. Procedure measuring distance is realized by way of measurement of dependence of phase difference between emitted and received periodic signals on frequency by which phase-frequency characteristic is computed, its linear component is determined from which rate of change distance covered by larger part of signal along main trajectory as well as periodic component and its spectrum are found to compute distance differences covered by signal along main an other trajectories. Novelty of procedure lies in multiplication of generated and received signals. To do this one of multiplied signals is amplitude, frequency and phase modulated by periodic signal, signal of at least one harmonic of modulation frequency is extracted and dependence of phase difference on frequency is measured with zero values of signals of extracted harmonics. Device measuring distance incorporates generator of voltage-controlled frequency connected to output of device, phase comparator which first input is connected to output of generator and which second input is connected to input of device, programmed control unit coming in the form of controller which form circuit of automatic frequency control of generator, frequency meter and computer determining distance. Device also includes modulation generator which outputs are connected correspondingly to input controlling frequency of generator and reference inputs of phase comparator which presence ensures frequency modulation of generated signal. According to first variant device has phase modulator which controlling input is connected to output of modulation generator which presence secures phase modulation of received signal. In correspondence with another variant proposed device has keys of receiver and transmitters across its input and output, output of modulation generator is connected to controlling input of key of transmitter. Presence of at least one key controlled by output signal of modulation generator provides for amplitude (pulse) modulation of received signal. Any form of modulation of generated or received signal makes it feasible to ensure presence of harmonic components of modulation frequency in output signal of mixer of phase comparator which extraction allows their zero values to be used to measure dependence of phase difference on modulation frequency and consequently distance. EFFECT: raised measurement accuracy of distance in any frequency range, millimeter range included. 35 cl, 7 dwg
