FIELD: pulse technology, inertial thermonuclear fusion, heavy-current electronics, high-energy density physics. SUBSTANCE: process consists in accumulation of energy in storage circuit by way of its connection to primary energy source, in formation of electromagnetic pulse with connection to storage of forming lines and in subsequent conversion of electromagnetic pulse energy to X-rays. Chemical energy of explosives in combination with accumulation of generated magnetic energy in inductive storing device and formation of high-voltage heavy-current electromagnetic pulse by interruption of current in storage circuit is employed at first stage of energy conversion to high-power X-radiation. Circuit is broken either with use of explosives or with electric blast of conductors, either in specially organized plasma layer or in stage manner combining these types of current interruption. EFFECT: removal of limitations on energy density at stage of accumulation and possibility of generation of high-power pulses, reduced dimensions and simplified design of facility for implementation of process. 2 cl
