FIELD: medicine; medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves placing compensating spherical and cylindrical lenses in front of patient eye. Lenses providing maximum vision acuity are selected. Analyzer device is placed in front of patient eye. The device has optical diffraction element diffracting light into a set of diffraction orders. Indices of the diffraction order providing maximum vision acuity are determined. The analyzer device has filter or monochromator unit and optical diffraction element. Light comes through the filter monochromator unit and diffracts on the optical diffraction element. EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of diagnosis; accelerated selection method. 6 cl, 2 dwg
