FIELD: medicine, toxicology, resuscitation. SUBSTANCE: one should detect a gaseous composition of arterial, mixed venous blood and mixed expired air to calculate pulmonary prognostic index (PPI) by the following formula 1: PPI = 82-131•Vd/Vt-0,71•Qs/Qt, where PPI - pulmonary prognostic index; Vd/Vt - the portion of functional dead space; Qs/Qt - the portion of venous admixture on a percentage basis, and at negative PPI values the result is evaluated to be unfavorable, in case of positive PPI values - as a favorable one. The method enables to simplify and correct evaluation for the possibility of lethality in patients with acute intoxications by using a standard analyzer of gaseous composition and blood pH. EFFECT: higher efficiency of prediction. 2 ex
