FIELD: measurement technology, electric drop-and-jet marking printers. SUBSTANCE: in correspondence with proposed procedure measuring viscosity of liquid this liquid is forced into receiver with the use of source of pulse pressure. In process of liquid effusion through capillary conduit time of pressure drop between two pressure levels is measured and is used to find momentary ( running ) viscosity of liquid. Time of pressure drop is measured periodically with frequency of pressure pulse recurrence rate during process of forcing liquid into receiver. Device measuring viscosity of liquid, for example, in hydraulic system of electric drop-and-jet marking printer comprises source of pulse pressure, receiver, capillary conduit, pressure transducer of piezoresistive type, for instance, connected to unit measuring tie of pressure drop connected in series. One wall of receiver is rubber membrane. Device can be supplemented with control valve placed in series with capillary conduit to switch on device at proper moment, for instance, with required periodicity.
