FIELD: radio engineering, in particular, display engineering, applicable in development of display elements on colored panels with a surface discharge of alternating current gas. SUBSTANCE: each pixel has a glow area in the form of a rhomb, the pixel consists of three colored display elements with a glow area in the form of a parallelogram, and these parallelograms are positioned with a mirror symmetry relative to one another. The line panels are combined in pairs. The display elements have one common scanning electrode each, which with the nearest display electrodes forms preparatory discharge gaps. Formation of the preparation discharge and address discharge at introduction of information are accomplished alternately and after each carrying-over the discharge stabilization procedures are carried out. EFFECT: enhanced contrast and reliability of control of colored panels at a high brightness and light efficiency, as well as reduced quantity of scanning electrodes. 9 cl, 6 dwg
