FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying variable force to a tooth causing reciprocal tooth movement. Tooth displacement amplitude is measured with two components taken into account one of which is cophasal to the variable force and another one has 90 deg phase shift relative to it. The values of these components are interpreted in terms of viscous and elastic characteristics of tooth mobility. When applying a variable force to a tooth, a force causing tooth position close to equilibrium point is applied. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of measurements when applying small forces to teeth. 3 cl, 4 dwg
