METHOD FOR COLD ROLLING OF SECTION WITH U-SHAPED CROSS SECTION Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, namely processes for cold rolling of non-ferrous metals and alloys, possibly making shaped sections of round copper blanks. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of changing cross section of blank from stage to stage at reducing it in system of shaping roll grooved passes at condition of continuous deformation process; at first stage of changing cross section of blank making lengthwise U-shaped notch along vertical axis of blank cross section with depth providing mechanical strength of bottom of transition cross section at forming lateral members of section; at subsequent stages of changing blank cross section extending lateral member of section by height without changing bottom thickness; at final stage of changing cross section rolling out bottom of blank to its width. It is possible to make lengthwise U-shaped notch at reduction degree 45-55% and deformation rate 0,1-0,5s^-1 ; extension by height of lateral members of section may be realized at reduction degree 8.5-27% and deformation rate 0,25-0,65s^-1. It is rational to roll out bottom of section to its width at reduction degree 50- 60% and deformation rate 0,7-1,3s^-1.
