FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves rewinding strip charged into cassette composed of four supporting rollers and two working rollers of smaller diameter; determining diameter of working rollers depending on strip thickness, strip resiliency and working stress of strip between roll unwinder and strip winder providing full coverage by strip of predetermined part of working roller of smaller diameter. Strip is charged into roller cassette in accordance with following pattern: strip is fed from roll unwinder onto first supporting roller and onto working roller of minimal diameter and is further fed onto second and third supporting rollers, from the latter onto minimal diameter working roller and onto terminating supporting roller, from which strip is wound into roll on winder. When tightly pressed strip adjoins to working roller generatrix, upper strip layer is stretched by size beyond maximal resiliency of strip material. Upon entrance of strip on straight portion, said stretched strip upper layer is incapable of resuming its previous size and stretches strip lower layers to impart preliminary resiliently stretching stresses. EFFECT: increased operating characteristics of hot rolled strips and sheets during operation in products and constructions. 1 dwg
